Conceptual Bibles 2023

These paintings are a reaction against the mass production and corporatization of Bibles. Bibles on the current market do not suggest the radical nature of biblical text and thus I felt the need to reinvent the aesthetics and experience people have with the cover of the Holy Bible. Perhaps, after seeing these reinvented Bible Covers the viewer might be more likely to open a bible and read it in the future. These paintings are intentionally not meant to be opened to provoke an inability to discover the interior, or more suggestively the potential richness of the interior life that a reading of the Bible offers.
