In December of 2017, I saw a call for project proposals on Instagram at Basement Projects DTSA. Christian Ramírez, artist and newly gallerist, gathers other artists to curate his space. Below are a few sentences outlining the space, the show and how it came together for an exhibition in April, 2018.

Basement Projects DTSA is located in downtown Santa Ana, California and is a non-profit project venue free from the constraints of the retail marketplace and conceived as a space to promote critical artistic thinking and exposure in the field of contemporary art in Orange County. 

Anthony Pessler, Henry Leo Schoebel and Pamela Diaz Martinez met in 2002 when Martinez joined the MFA program at Arizona State University. Pessler and Schoebel were, and still remain, members of ASU's painting and drawing program faculty. It soon became apparent that the three were kindred spirits, driven as they were to ponder fundamental existential questions through a deep commitment to image-making. Though separated by time and geography, their formative experiences were shaped by the theology and ritual of the Catholic church. The exhibition, Tres Veritates, or Three Truths, is an exploration of how a shared impulse can result in vastly divergent forms, as developed through the lens of individual experience and understanding.
